 PURPLE PIG UPDATE

My name is Michele Joyce and I’m honored to serve as the new Purple Pig chairman for Santa Ana Elks Lodge #794. It’s a privilege to be part of a program that exemplifies our commitment to helping children with disabilities through the California-Hawaii Elks Major Project (CHEMPI). As many of you know, our Purple Pig program is the heart beat of our charitable giving. Every coin dropped into those little
purple banks goes directly to funding therapy services—physical, occupational and speech—provided free of charge to children in need. This year I’m excited to bring fresh energy to our fundraising efforts. Here are few things to look forward to:
• Pig Pick-Ups & Promotions—I’ll be collecting full pig around the lodge and handing out fresh ones. Let’s see which member or group can fill the most pigs in 2025.
• Purple Pig Events—We’ll host fun activities like our popular Purple Pig races, raffles and challenges to raise both funds and awareness.
• Major Project Spotlights—Each month, I’ll share stories and updates on how your donations are making a difference in children’s lives.

Our goal is not just to raise money, but to build a strong sense of pride and purpose around this iconic Elks program. So keep feeding those pigs, talk to your fellow members and get involved. If you’d like to help with Purple Pig collections, host a fundraiser, or have a fun idea to share, please reach out. Together we can continue to make a major impact, one coin at a time.

The Purple Pig or California Elks Major Project funds 32 paid therapists and preschool vision screeners to help disabled children when no other organizations can or will. These professional therapists and preschool vision screeners travel, sometimes great distances, to help children get care they need.

Further, many times the children will have tests, e.g. vision screening, that catches early signs of amblyopia (“Lazy Eye”), a medical problem that, once caught, can be corrected early on and save a child from going blind, quite literally.

This challenge started November 1, 2024 and continues until January 31, 2025 with several opportunities for our Elk members to help raise funds.

Become a Recurring Donor to Percy, our Purple Pig

Donating to the PURPLE PIG PROJECT has become simplified through monthly recurring donations using your credit card. The process automatically charges your credit card on a monthly  basis for a set donation amount of $5.00 or more. It’s safe, reliable, and allows us to spend more time on our charitable mission. Recurring donors are very important donors who are recognized in each issue of the CHEA ELKS magazine. To get started, click HERE and choose your donation type. You will receive a recurring donor pin after your first donation has been received.  Your generosity annually provides over 13,000 therapy visits and helps over 45,000 children get their vision screened. Percy the Purple Pig thanks you for all your donations!
