COMMITTEES & CLUBS
There are numerous ways to get involved in the Santa Ana Elks Lodge. Joining a committee or club is a fun way to meet new people while making a difference in our community.
PURPLE PIG
The Purple Pig committee works to raise funds to to address the unmet needs of children with disabilities through a program of supporting services to aid these children at no cost to their families. That program is the Purple Pig, the fundraising arm of the California-Hawaii Elks Association Major Project, Inc. Since its inception in 1950, The California-Hawaii Elks have raised over $140.5 million to help these kids. Purple Pig banks are available at the lodge for your loose change and every second Tuesday of the month is Purple Pig Day when members turn in their piggy banks filled with coins (and bills) and exchange them for new ones. MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
The MNF committee takes the fun of watching footbal to a whole different level. During the season you can enjoy great food with great people every Monday night as well as Thursdays and Sundays. We work hard to raise money for the neediest of the needy in our community by hosting fun and creative events. We have an annual golf tournament, car show and Super Bowl party. We also do things like wreath making classes, paint-n-sips, outings to Angel games and more! We help at risk youth, homeless, veterans, school athletic programs and sponsor student athlete scholarships. Come join us!

NOMADS RV/CAMPING CLUB
The Nomads is the RV/Camping club of the Santa Ana Elks Lodge with monthly meetings and outings. Previous trips have taken them to Hemet, Vale Lake in Temecula, Julian and the annual Purple Pig Rally. Whenever people participate in recreational activities such as camping, the body instantly releases a special happy hormone, helpful iIn alleviating symptoms of stress. So it's a good thing to plan a camping trip with friends and family! The committee meets at the lodge every 4th Thursday of the month with a social hour at 6:00 pm and a meeting at 7:30 pm. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The scholarship committee organizes, evaluates, fundraises for and orchestrates the Santa Ana Elks Lodge scholarship program. In 2024, the committee awarded over $50,000 to local high school students on their way to college. Scholarships include most valuable student, CHEA vocational grant, CHEA students with disabilities, the Bob McCalla Scholarship, athletic scholarships, the Lenz Scholarship, Santa Ana Elks scholarships, Legacy awards, and emergency education grants. Fun, fundraising activities organized by the committee throughout the year help fund this program.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE
This committee works to support youth and...
For over 43 years, they have awarded the Wally Dietrich scholarships to local intermediate high school athletes who have excelled in their chosen sport. The scholarship was established in honor of PER Wally Dietrich a noted baseball player at Santa Ana High School. This committee also orchestrates the lodge's participation in the national Elks Hoop Shoot, a free throw program that allows boys and girls between 8 and 13 the opportunity to participate in a fun, age-appropriate program that sets them up for future success. The program has been developing gritty kids for over 50 years, long before researchers and experts concluded that grit was the most accurate indicator of future success.

CHARITY COMMITTEE
The Santa Ana Elks Charity Committee exists to achieve a greater sense of satisfaction and personal growth by giving back to those in need. Our fundraising efforts have supported schools and athletic teams, veterans, a children's shelter, exceptional children, needy families, children's therapeutic arts, and more. We recently help fund protective vests and training for Santa Ana Police dogs. We also worked to receive a $10,000 grand to establish a "Empowering Women in Need: Elks' Compassion in Action" program to support unhoused women and children. Our lodge will partner with WISEPlace and Casa Teresa to provide resources to assist with wellness, employment searches and support for expecting mothers and their children. We meet every third Monday at the lodge at 2:00 pm.

VETERANS COMMITTEE
The Veterans Committee meets at the Santa Ana Lodge every third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm I'm the Nest. Elks pledge "so long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." When it comes to serving veterans, the Elks have a long and storied tradition of being there when they are needed most. One of the ways we do that is by support the Tustin Veterans Outpost which provides housing and a hand up to veterans in need.. We raise funds to provide personal and other items for veterans and participate in the Stand Down which provides hot meals, housing assistance, showers, dental care, clothing and over services to veterans, especially those without housing.
DRUG AWARENESS COMMITTEE
The Drug Awareness Committee is comprised of volunteer members who are dedicated to educating the community about the dangers and impacts of illegal substances and substance abuse. The committee works to support the national Elks Drug Awareness Program is is the largest of its kind in the country. From a young age, the Drug Awareness Program asks kids to think about what it means to be drug free. Through the program’s annual essay and poster contests, kids can express their feelings on rejecting peer pressure. At events, including Red Ribbon Week ceremonies, Elks and their friends serve as role models who show kids that living drug free is the way to be.

ELKS 794 TRAVEL CLUB
The Santa Ana Elks Travel Club coordinates a variety of day and extended tours to meet the needs of the Santa Ana Elks Lodge, their families and their friends. The club meets the first Friday of each month at 1:00 pm at the lodge. Day trips have included bus trips to the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum. Extended trips in 2024 include a 7-day trip to the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore in June; a 9 day trip to the Colorado Rockies including a trip on the Durango & Silverton Railroad also in June; a 6-day trip to the best of Chicago in August; and a 6-day trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October. All extended trips leave from Orange County.
EMBLEM CLUB #530
The Santa Ana Emblem Club is the auxiliary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and was formed to perform charitable works in the community and support the lodge. The order was organized during World War I by a group of women who met to wrap bandages for wounded soldiers overseas. The group decided to turn their circle into a regular club and were chartered in 1926. Today, there are over 500 clubs coast to coast. Membership is open to any US citizen, men and women ages 16 and older, both Elks and non-Elks. The club organizes numerous fundraising activities throughout the year,i ncluding gift boutiques, Quarter-Mania, Bunko, and more, that support various charitable endeavors of the lodge. This year they also supplied hand-made blankets to the Orangewood Children and Family Center.
